Special procurement - direct production - APO

HI,

In ECC we use special procurement Key 52 and 55 to generate collective production orders. We are aware that SAP states in OSS note 619976  - Special procurement types in APO (documentation) that direct production is not supported.

When running the heuristics  in APO, planned orders are generated for all levels . However the conversion of these planned orders to production order is not possible.

What is the recommendation of SAP when changing from PP-MRP to APO for this process? Is there a wrokaround, modification note / CIF enhancement , recommendation how to adapt the master data

Please advise

Regards

Gomathi

We chose for the moment to use activate MRPDS as this also needs the activation of a switch in ECC. We put the following procedure into place for the time being

We can plan the header in APO by setting the with MRP type X0 and on the sub assemblies in ECC PD.

This means that the alert monitor and scheduling board can be used, but, not the SNP capacity planning leveling for the sub assemblies (this is due to the sub assemblies being planned in ECC and SNP cannot change ECC planned Orders)

The main things to remember:

1. The dates can be changed in APO and the orders converted without an error message. This includes the Header and sub-assemblies

2. Quantities cannot be changed for Header or the sub assemblies in APO. MRP must be run in ECC to convert the orders.  You will get an error message if you try to convert them without running ECC MRP for the sub-assemblies.

3.  A new order can be created in APO for the header but MRP must be run for the sub-assemblies before the collective order can be created.

4. When the orders are converted, the header material drives the dates for the other orders.  So, if the header material has a date of 09/01 but the sub-assemblies have dates of 08/01 or 10/01, when converted, all orders will have dates of 09/01 or close to it depending on the master data.

5. Integration of the orders is working.  So, once the orders are converted, all production orders will appear in APO as per standard functionality.

6.  If the dates are changed and not aligned between the header and sub-assemblies, when ECC MRP runs for the assemblies, the header material will drive the planned order dates for the sub-assemblies.  What this means is that if the dates are changed in APO for the sub-assemblies in the Detailed Scheduling board and not aligned with the header material, they will be adjusted by ECC-MRP to reflect the requirement date of the Header material.

7. For Sub Assemblies, the SNP capacity book can be used to view the capacity load and drive alerts, but, not be used to adjust the capacity load since the sub-assemblies are ECC orders.

Gomathi,

APO cannot create network orders / collective orders, it can only read them from ECC. My approach to tackle this was to plan for the leading / parent part# via SNP, convert to PPDS, publish the planned orders to ECC, perform an MRP run which creates planned orders under direct production for the sub-assemblies. At this point you can run a report to convert Planned Order to Production Order in ECC which creates collective orders.

In APO, you need to run the SAP_PP_MRPDS heuristic to read order network from ECC to maintain appropriate pegging relationship.
