Hi Experts,
I have two questions on the Information Steward tool
Thank in advance,
Cheers,
Rabie
Rabie,
Responses to your questions:
1. Metadata will source data from various systems for lineage and impact analysis. If you bring in ETL processes you might be able to use the stitching to find where data comes from and goes to. You'd have to look at alternatives for master data (eg SAP MDG). MDG allows Data Insight rules to be embedded.
2. Partially. You can export DQ rules from Data Insight and embed into Data Services workflows, but then you'd need to define the business rules to embed into the ETL to fix or have some workflow that sends data (email or to a database) around that could somehow be picked up and loaded back into the appropriate source(s). If you want to fix back in the source, we've looked at the IS Solution Extension called "Information Steward Accelerator". It's sold through SAP and from the vendor (BackOffice Associates). The demo suggests this is possible but we've not implemented.

Dirk,
I'm not familiar with MDG to know how DQ exceptions could be corrected back in the source.
The IS Accelerator sales guys claim it can enable corrections back into the source as identified by IS (DI), even when the DI connection is different to the sources and showed how exceptions can be exported to Excel and imported back in before scheduling the rectification.
My point? MDG may not be the only tool considered if the requirement is purely data corrections. We looked at IS Accelerator as IS does not manage the workflows to assign and prioritise once exceptions are identified through rules. See idea D28035. This should be standard IS functionality so users do not have to move around different tools to manage the DQ process.
I've also seen a demo of Agile Data Prep (being sold as IS if you want HANA) that allows corrections of data in data sets brought it, but does not appear to fix back in the source.
regards
Adrian
Hi Dirk/Adrian,
Thanks a lot for the detailed explanation
I have a question on the Information Steward tool it self:

Resolution
To resolve the error unzip the attached web.zip file to extract the web.xml file and perform the following steps:
I have tried the above steps. However the error message still persist
Any solution?
