Hello All,
I have a motor as an equipment and its BOM has bearing and rotor as spares. Now for a maintenance breakdown on motor, I have replaced bearing.
Now my client want to repair that bearing. How can we do it in SAP?
Thanks & Regards,
Ashish
Hello Mr. Rao,
I know we can create a refurbishment order on material but for that we need to exchange bearing using IE4N so that this bearing reflect in inventory. Without reflecting damaged bearing in inventory, Can we create refurbishment order?
Also we need to split valuation for bearing.
Note: This bearing is a BoM component.
I do not have any idea about how to process an assembly but somewhere I read that an assembly is not a physical object.
Please provide the solution.
Thanks!

I believe the first case will be better and on the Equipment you can Create and Process Orders capturing all costs.

Hello sir,
As there are many process in SAP for repair so this is always confusing.
Actually the client requirement is:
They want to repair a inventory material lets say hydraullic hose pipe.
In this case, this pipe cannot be created as an equipment in SAP. Now I would like to repair it because repairing is less expensive than procuring a new one.
So the confusion is; How will we create a order on material? And if we choose refurbishment then how can we take hose pipe back to inventory(which is already consumed against an order earlier or cost center).
I am very confused about the return of inventory once it has been consumed to order.
Please provide your valuable suggestions.
Thanks and regards,
Ashish

Hello sir,
After gone through your suggestion and my client's requirement, I think we can map this as a refurbishment process. But I have confusions;
1. Is equipment creation necessary to follow refurbishment process?.
The reason being for this confusion is : how can we check which spare material is installed right now at equipment?. And once new spare material is consumed against an order then how can we take it back to the inventory for refurbishment in defective stage?.
Please clear my confusion because I am in need to provide the solution to client.
Thanks & Regards,
Ashish
Yes sir, I understood your answer but my concern is how to take back the defective material in to inventory. Is there any need to do movement type 501?.
I can create a refurbishment order when I have a material in inventory as a defective. So how to get it back to inventory as a defective?.
let me explain more:
Suppose I have created a material named hose pipe with three different valuation as C1- New, C2- Refurbished, C3- defective.
Now I have two nos of hose pipe of C1 type in stock, out of which one is consumed against a maintenance order with movement 261. And physically one hose pipe of C3 type is coming back to store then how can we show the movement of c3 material in system?
Should it be done by store with 501 movement type or any other alternative?
Thanks!
Ashish
And then
Hi,
You should use 262 movement type to return the spare parts against the work order. because you received the material using 261 movement type against order.
to do the 262 movement type follow the below.
1. create the corrective work order and enter the material number and enter the ( - ) negative quantity. if that material is valuated , enter the valuation type (C3 - Defective).
2. Then Do the GI (good issues) .
3. Now you can verify the Quantity of C3 ( Defective ) get increased.
After that You can create the refurbishment order against the material. Now the repair cost will get settled against the material.
Hope its clear. if not plz reply.
If you have Refurbishment process then it is the answer. If you do not have then create a Maintenance Order on the Bearing as an Equipment or as an Assembly.
