Hi Kim,

I guess there is some data mismatch. Initially I also faced the same issue.

What details are you trying to modify in Org structure? Please try correcting the fields as given in the error message.

Thanks

Hi Kim,

Deleting an existing Org unit can cause inconsistencies.  The Org unit might have used in some master data and documents. So it is not deleted completely.

If there is not much impact, then try to create a new one with a different ID.

Hi Abdul,

I could have created new Org Units but even after creating them I won't be allowed to add up employees as they were already assigned to the existing Units. The screenshot for the same was attached in my previous post.

I am just wondering how all the employees assigned to the Org Units are locked by the Business User automatically. How can I get rid of this?

Hi You can end the validity of the org unit then this org unit will not be having nay impact as it is no more valid,

now try creating new one then start using it this way the inconsistencies wont take place also it is not recommended to delete the org.

Hi Suresh,

Thanks for acknowledging.

Tell me one thing - if I delete the existing Organization Units for which some data (master / transaction) already exists in the system, how can I re-create the same Organization Structure? Or how can I re-assign the employees from the deleted Organization Units to the newly created Organizational Units?

I am really looking forward have a conclusion on this.

Best Regards!

Hi,

First please create a new dummy unit then add employees to thst new org unit,

now try to delimt the validity of the org unit and the employees,

if there is an data/transaction you cannot delete it instead you can delimit it but this will have impact on open transactions i mean which are inprocess.

hope this helps.

Hi Suresh,

I can't assign employees to the newly created Org Units as they are already assigned to the existing units.

Situation is as follows:

1. Org Units - A, B, C

2. Employees - 1, 2, 3

3. Deleted Org Units - A, B, C

4. Newly Created Org Units - A1, B2, C3

5. Unable to assign Employees 1, 2, 3 to Newly Created Org Units A1, B2, C3

Error Messages:

- Modifying assignments of employee 1/2/3 not possible; they are locked by XXX

- Business Partner is locked by XXX

Hi ,

Please first try to delimit the employees 1,2,3 from org unit a,b,c then create new org unit as said now add the employee 1,2,3 and make sure the validity has to be after the delimit date that entered while delimiting.

It should work the error you mentioned is something strange after doing the above process still error there please log an incident to SAP.

Suresh

Kim,

Re-assigning employees is one of the many things in the org structure that do not work and the more you try it, the more you run into issues as the system will keep throwing errors and warnings when it finds gaps in the assignment periods and these affect all org units above the one that is "inconsistent" as well.

The best way is to only re-assign employees from the Employee screen by changing the employee's Department (don't ask why that field is not called Org Unit, because that's what it really is).

Hopefully 1608 will bring an org structure that actually works and allows units to be renumbered.
