SAP HCI ECC using Basic Authentication Method

Hi Experts,

We have project requirement to connect our SAP ECC system with HCI for outbound communication.

So we are using the Basic authentication method using SCN User & Password and followed below link.…

As per the instructions

a) We created the self Signed certificate and maintained the HCI cert in strust of ECC system.

b) Created the RFC with G type using Basic Authentication method.[SCN User & Password]

c) In our landscape our SAP systems are connected through saprouter[in DMZ zone]

But while connecting/testing the RFC observed ICM_Conn_HTTP_Failed error so could you help me to understand if we missed any other step.

Thanks for the help in advance.

Sanath Kumar

    Hi Sanath,

I'm not sure if it's you who reported a very similar incident...

So far I have not found a document mentioning SAPRouter in HCI <-> ERP scenario.

(yet I'm not saying it's not possible)

As far as I've heard, HCI can connect to an ERP system (intranet access) via
    - Any load balancer/proxy that can make intranet URL as internet

    - SAP Cloud Connector (SCC), which will also make intranet URL as internet

Regarding the ICM_CONN_HTTP_FAILED error, please check the error details, and see why it fails.

Unless someone with experience points out for us that it's not possible to connect like HCI -> Saprouter -> ERP, I think we can still move a little bit forward.

    BR, Tom

    • Thanks Tom for your reply. Appreciate for time taken to reply.

So far, as per documentation we have few queries, could you please clarify.

      1) Please clarify if on-premise SAP system require proxy server/SAP cloud connector to connect to HCI for both inbound and outbound communication?

      2) Is coderint 600 ABAP Add-in is required to install for HCI connectivity.

      3) Do SAP Backend system ERP need to to have trusted certificates for outbound connection.
