Day Closing Balance

Dear Gurus,

I need any report / FM / Table which can give me the batch wise closing stock for any given date (Selection : Plant / Date / Material).

I am aware of Standard Reports but cannot use them as I have to use the above in a custom report that I am developing for the client.

Also I tried using the MARD table, but creating the logic using the previous preiod and then adding values for remaining days was not looking a correct / reliable solution.
