Web Intelligence Rich Client closes

I am encountering problems with Web Intelligent Rich Client application. I can log in to the platform but when I open a file, it suddenly closes. I tried to restart the Webi server in CMC and also at the OS level and I even tried to re-install the application but it still didn't work. What could be the cause of this?

Hi,

Go to below path:

C:\Users\<login_user_name>\Application Data\Business Objects\Business Objects 14.0\lsi

You will find LSI file with name <cmsname_portno>.lsi

Rename this LSI file to <cmsname_portno>.lsi.old

Again launch Webi Rich Client and check.

Hi Yuvraj,

I think I know what's causing the problem here. When I checked the lsi file, the port number is 6400 so I renamed it as you stated above. But the port number I am trying to log in to is 6401, so when I launched Webi Rich Client and logged in to 6401, a new lsi file was created but the port number is still 6400.

Can you suggest a way to fix this? Thank you!

Hi,

I think the file name takes 6400 by default as it is the default port provided by SAP for CMS.

Your BO admin would have set the port for CMS as 6401. Are you able to login successfully with 6401 port?

Do you get the issue with new LSI file?

Is Rich client still crashing when you open report?

I am able to log in successfully using 6401 port.

I am not sure if the cause is that webi still connects to 6400 instead of 6401.

Rich client still crashes when I open a report.

Hi,

Does it crash only while opening report or also while doing other activities in Rich Client?

Are you opening the report from repository or from local machine?

What is the authentication used when you log in? Can you try replicating this issue with BO admin credentials?

Do you face same issue when you log onto another machine with your user id on both machine and rich client?

What if another user logs into machine with his/her credentials and then you log into Rich client with user credentials?

This will help in understanding whether issue is specific to your id / access / machine.

In case the issue is specific to only your user id then follow the below steps:

1. Go to registry by putting regedit in Start --> Run.

2. Go to HKEY-CURRENT-USER > Software > SAP BusinessObjects > Suite XI 4.0 > default > BusinessObjects > <User_Name> User Prefs

3. Right click on this folder and export to take backup.

4. Delete this User Prefs folder.

5. Close registry,

6. Re-open Webi Rich client and check.

Hi Yuvraj,

It crashes when I open a report and also when doing some other activities like creating a new file and saving as a new file.

When I reopen from he repository, the application crashes. When I open from my local machine, I received a message saying "You cannot open with this connection".

I tried this on a different machine and encountered the same scenario.

I also tried to use another user credential and admin account but the same problem occurs.

Hi Coleen,

Please go through the supported platform guide and check if the environment is compatible.

Also check if Java version & upgrade is compatible.
