Create Index & BIA Indexes

Hi All,

I am newbie in BW. I am having a doubt that how is create indexes step is useful to Fill BIA indexes step in process chain. What happened if we fill BIA manually with out completion of create indexes step. Pls help me in understanding this concepts.
