Attachment Folder Documents Issue

Former Member

Dear Forum,

We have a environment migration project

Migration from Hosting environment to Cloud environment.

We have successfully installed and restored our customer database customer on premise.

We have plenty of documents attached in the attachment folder.

But we could not able to access because of the documents are stored in the hosting server attachments folder.

Is there any possibility to restore our documents.

Please suggest.

Thanks.,

You can move the documents to a folder where they can be accessed, then update the path under administration>System Initialisation>General Settings>Paths (from 9.1)

Does the client user use terminal service to the cloud host and run B1 client there?

Hi Frank,

Thanks for your reply.

The thing is totally migrated from cloud to on premise server.

So we have our own server and the path is connected with hosting server only.

Is there any idea to recover and access the documents.

Otherwise is the only possible way to collect all the documents from the cloud server partner and those documents will be moved to our own server attachments folder.

Oh, Ic, you are moving back to Premise setup.

OK, windows server support to mount folder with different names or path at the same time. You might think in this way. I believe it can be solved with the help on this trick.

So, create a new partition, and mount it into windows server twice with different names, one is for old setup, and one is for current setup. I hope i explain clearly. If not, then u might contact me for help.

Hi Frank,

Thanks for your reply.

Our customer runs the sap business one system in the hosting environment.

Not in the on premise.

Our customer planned to migrate hosting to on premise.  So our hosting partner given the database only.

So we have the database with the transactions up to Dec 31, 2015.

From Jan 2016 on wards we have installed new SQL Server and SAP Business One System that is our customer existing SAP Business One system 9.0 PL07.

We have installed 9.0 PL07 and restored our customer database (that we get from the hosting partner).

Right now we can able to access our own server in the restored database.

Here, we could not able to see already attached documents (that is before Dec 2015). because of the server path (cloud server name\b1_shr\attachments).

Right now our own server name (ourserver\b1_shr\attachments).

I request you please clarify is there any solution to get back and access our documents.

Thanks

Oh, gosh.

This is even more easier to solve with DNS record. Basically, you will run local DNS server to point your "cloud server name" to your "ourserver" ip address, then everything is done.

If you dont run local DNS server, then you can try to change c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts file for each computer and do the same mapping.

Dear Amudhu,

I think it was only possible when you have the access of Hosting Server.

Hi Syed,

Thanks for your reply,

The issue is now we are running on premise server.

Do you have any idea to get back and access the documents.

I checked with some forum threads suggest that path has hard coded with sap.

Thanks
