BOM can use fixed asset item or not?

Dear All

I would like to know BOM can use fixed asset item or not?

When I define the BOM, I would like to select the fixed asset item. But I can't select it.

The case is I buy two notebooks with 1 plastic bag. The vendor charge me 5000x2+0.5=10000.5.

The AP invoice like the following

2 x notebooks 10000

1 x plastic bag 0.5

Total 10000.5

I would like to share the fixed asset value for each notebook 5000.25

What should I do?

Regards

Edmund

Hi

you can add the FA for each notebook, and capitalize for 5000.

After this, you can add a new purchase invoice with the same FA and for the bag value.

Kind regards

Dear Agustin

do you mean, I use capitalization to add the FA for each notebook first with $5000?

and then create AP invoice with the same FA and bag $0.5.

Then it will share $0.5 for those FA with $0.25?

I think plastic bag shall be treated as separate fixed asset.

Dear Jiju

Do you mean, I use asset revaluation to adjust the plastic bag to 0 and notebook to 5000.25 manually, right?

Hi Edmund,

I don't know what are the statutory laws applicable for the country for which the database is maintained.

In India, we usually treat as follows:

Either capitalise the cost towards the fixed assets (5000.25 per notebook)

or show the cost of plastic bag as "Consumables" and write-off cost in the year end.

You may charge as per your statutory requirements.

Bill of Material cannot be used for fixed assets currently in standard SAP Business One.
