How to chose the GR location

Hi experts,

very stupid question (maybe):

When I'm in the PRDI, I can press the Goods Receipt button and post my product to the bin (in my case it's 9010, GR-ZONE).

When I have 2 different locations in 9010 --> how will the system chose the location?

Background: We have the production in ERP system, and now I want to have all RAW materials coming back from production in a different GR zone.

Any suggestions/ideas?

Thanks

Michael

Hi Michael,

If you do the GRN against production order document type will be 'INBI' and document type is for PO is 'INB'.

if you determine different WPTs for both document types,  can able to trigger the different bins in a single GR staging area.

As per the automatic GR staging area determination against inbound , we have several control parameters like WPT, SA/DDET Grp, HU type, MTr and carrier.

apart from these parameters , we can maintain the 'SA/DDET Grp' in product master also. but if the same product can receive against PO & production order , it will be a problem.

This is my assumption, any how will look other experts opinion also..

Morning C K Reddy,

okay, will have a look here.

My problem will be --> production is on a ERP location, so all products (doesn't matter if RAW, finished, semi-finished) coming back to EWM have the same document type. Also goods coming from external first posted GR on a ERP location (different one).

So at the moment the only way I see:

1. Depending on source locationn (production or GR location external ERP), maybe different process type

2. Add a flag to my ASN (for example in BOLNR) to tell system --> this is putback from production

So the "only" real question for me is -> where in customizing is the setup to use GR-ZONE as my GR location?

Thanks

Michael

Very Good Morning Michael,

if we go with different WPTs, we have one option at configuration path to define WPT.

Spro-img-SCM Extended Warehouse Management-Extended Warehouse Management-Cross-Process Settings-Warehouse Task-Define Warehouse Process Type

here , we can maintain the source storage type & storage bin ( Ex : GR-ZONE )

other one is at Easy access level.

Easy access-SCM Extended Warehouse Management -Extended Warehouse Management -Settings -Shipping and Receiving - Staging Area and Door Determination (Inbound)  (  /SCWM/STADET_IN )

If we want to use at Easy acces level, it would required to configure staging area / Door determination group along with assignments.

That's it! SPRO - was a little bit confused as it's called source storage location and not destination 😉

Thanks C K Reddy!

Hello Michael,

please have a look at Tx. /SCWM/GMBIN_DET (Easy Access Menu -> EWM -> Settings -> Maintain Goods Movement Bin). Here you can specify how the GM for the inbound delivery item is found. Besides Document / Item Type you can take Product Group Type and Product Group into account - which might be useful in your case for differentiation between raw and finished products.

Kind regards,

Kai-Uwe

Hi Kai-Uwe,

yes, that's correct - but will not solve my problem 😉

I have product A coming from external supplier, should go the normal way with GR-ZONE

Now product A is in production, rest qty on the pallet comes back to the warhouse, should go to a different GR Zone.

Problem 2:

GR from external is done in ERP system, then moved to EWM.

Rest qty are also moved just from ERP to EWM

Both is the same process, inbound in EWM

So, not material specific, process specific 😉

But thanks a lot for the hint!

Michael
