Hello Santosh,

Drill is basically used for analytical purpose. Lets take an example suppose you have Region Country State and Sales Revenue in your Report

Now currently your Report is showing All Data now you want to see how much sales a specific Region has generated then you further want to see under a region how much sales a country has generated then further down you want to see under a country how much sales a State has generated so that is called Drill Down.

Similarly when you go up the hierarchy its called a Drill Up.

There's another one Drill Through where report allows you to go from summary to detail. For instance: You have a financial application in which you can show the balance and profit and loss for a specific time frame. Every general ledger displays the total amount of all transactions for this specific period. By clicking (Drill through) on one of the general ledgers you will see the underlying transactions for this specific period. That means you can define your own analysis level.

Hope this helps.
