How to set up basic BRM for role import

Hi,

I am doing a GRC 5.3 upgrade project to GRC10.1

According to the update guide I should set up basic BRM so that I can import the roles properly and also in future when I need to upload more roles or manage roles in GRC directly.

The problem I have is that I cannot seem to get basic BRM like the one below. I know there is a GRC blog which talks about setting up BRM to have multiple stages such as Permission and etc. I do not need that complicated stuff. I just want basic ones like the below.

For example when I make a change to a role's desc in GRC, after clicking the button Save and Continue, the role will be in completed status.

Does anyone know how to set it up?

Hello,

Please define the methodology as required in SPRO

SPRO>GRC>Access Control>Role management>Define methodology and process steps

like below

Now Associate Methodology Process to Condition Group

Goto NWBC>Role Maintanance

Select create option to see the defined methodology

Hope it helps you

Hi

I noticed that the last step 'Now Associate Methodology Process to Condition Group', the condition group seems to be free text. Does it matter what name I give?

Hi Jonathan

The condition group name matters based on your BRF+ configuration

You only need to configure this if you want more than 1 set of methodology steps depending on certain conditions. If you are doing basics, then a the default methodology may be enough

Please refer to my document on this:

Based on your comment that you only want to do simple stuff, you can also alter your methodology to remove the Approval step if you want to as well. If you do go down path of approval, I have another document explaining use of conditions steps there. As far as configuring it goes, the IMG has the steps mostly in order for BRM and the associated help information is (as rare as this is in SAP) quite helpful with the steps. Activating the BC Sets makes your life easier to alter it from there.

Colleen
