Dear Experts,

I am required to add New Package to Existing strategy, Should I add this to after existing ones?

I added the new strategy after existing ones, Its not sequenced according the Cycle length in the Task Lists.

In above example I want to add 5M package in between 4M and 6M, How to achieve this?

Please advice

Thanks in Advance

Ashok

Hi Ashok,

It depends on the Hierarchy. Refer below.

Thanks Maria,

We have defined Task Lists, On the same hierarchy levels hence all the packages are to be executed.

Thanks

Dear PSR/Amol/Maria

Thanks all for your  inputs,  as SAP recommend "Always add new maintenance packages after existing ones."

Adding Maintenance Packages - Maintenance Planning (CS-AG/PM-PRM-MP) - SAP Library

I inserted the new package at the middle (IP11), all the packages are moved in the task lists

hence this is not recommended.

Thanks

Ashok

Dear PSR,

Is this possible of scenario where all the packages are having same hierarchy levels?

What is the impact of the history if we change the Cycle length of a Package Numbers?

Eg: Package No 3 currently having 5 MON, In future Package No 3  will be 4 MON.

      What is the impact?

Please advice

Thanks

Hi Ashok,

There is no issues on adding the packages below. It purely depends on Cycle Length. Maintenance planning schedule is based on the cycle length.

Also you can test it by creating a similar case to understand better.

HI Ashok,

I mentioned in my previous comments. There is no impact. But system will allow you to delete the package - add new - add deleted one again  only when that strategy is not being used somewhere in plans.

Referring to my previous comments, you can just add you new package in existing strategy without any change. if your 4 months package is at number 4 & 5 months package is number 7 does not matter. When you assign packages to task list, system will consider the cycle not the package number.

Hope this clarifies.

Hi Ashok,

Thanks for your response, in my screen shots only as an example,I showed how to insert / add new package in between existing packages. Ignore other parameters like hierarchy levels, etc which I have shown.

With regard to impact of the history if we change the Cycle length of a package Number, better you test from your end as explained and help the community in giving the result.

Earlier response was on your original post i.e. on how to add 5M package in between 4M and 6M, How to achieve this?

Hope, I have answered.

Thanks & Regards,

Hi Ashok,

After maintenance package consecutive number 6 add one more package of 5M, then start editing from maintenance package number 5 i.e. 6 to 5 next maintenance package number 6 i.e. from 9 to 6 and last maintenance package number 7 i.e. from 5 to 9.

By doing this you can achieve the required task.

For your reference plz find the following images. Here, added 4M between 3M & 5M. Hope it is clear

HI Ashok,

You can add that after existing ones. Its does not matter if your package numbers are not in sequence as per your cycles.

But if you still want to add 5 months next to 4 months, then delete 6 & 9 months package, add 5 months package & then add 6month & 9 mnths package again.

Thanks Amol,

If i delete 6 & 9 months package and re add, what would happen to past records (Package Number changes) ? Do you have any Idea?

Thanks

Hi Ashok,

If you have already used that package in some plans, systme wont allow you to delete it. Hence I suggested to add it next. package number sequence does not matter. your cycle text and hierarchy are important.

If you add it next and go to assignment of operations to relevant packages in task list, you will see the cycle length at the top, no the package number.
