Hi guys
The horrible red cross keeps appearing randomly when the users try to refresh the report in Webi...Is there any fix for it in upcoming releases such as sp7?
It does not deliver a good end user experience when they get crosses in place of charts...
Cheers
Hi Nutty,
Is the Java set on auto upgrade? If yes, you might have to check if the current update is compatible with BO XI 4.1 SP3.
For example: it might happen that report is working fine with Java 6 Update 8 but starts giving issue with Java 6 Update 20. I am just giving a scenario.
To test it, you can check if issue comes in Rich client and Interactive editing mode in BI Launchpad.
If it works with Rich client and Interactive mode then you can probably try checking which Java version + upgrade is compatible.
Also check if it is coming with multiple users on multiple machines. If yes, just compare their java versions. It could help you in reaching the root cause.
Does the issue comes on BO server? I mean if you remote log onto server and check. If not, you can compare the java version and upgrade among server and client and then check.

Yuvraj

APs is running fine but users still have the same issues. Do you guys think upgrading to Service pack 7 should fix the issue?

Hi Nutty,
The APS might be running fine but the Visualization service within the APS might be having issues generating the blob files. Were these charts correctly displayed previously ? Do you have a clustered environment? Has the APS been split into separate services on your production env?
Carry out the following steps:
1- I would first and foremost restart the APS and the Webi services and try viewing the report again
2- If that does not work then try to restart all services by restarting the SIA (all servers if clustered).
3- If that does not work then you have run the Visualization service in a separate APS instance as recommended by SAP, simply by creating a new APS and adding the Visualization service to it. You can then remove the original Visualization service from the original APS.
Make sure you increase the heap size of the new APS to at least 2g in the command line (-Xmx2g).
If restarting the SIA resolves the problem then I would assume that you have caching space issue.
My 2 cents

Hi Nutty,
Adaptive Processing Servers for Charting contain following services:
To resolve mentioned issue please follow the steps mentioned below:
1. Create a new Adaptive Processing Server.
2. Increase the heap size for the Adaptive Processing Server.
CMC > Go to Servers > click Manage > Properties, and add commandline parameter: -Xmx2g.
3. Increase the number of visualization APS if needed.
Moreover you can refer following link:

Hope this will help you to resolve your issue.

Veer

Hi Buddy,
We've sent it many times, prinary reason may be the Java memory setting on your desktop, which you can increase from Java panel. Or, memory issue in Adaptive processing server, or because of incompatible data objects being shown in the Chart.
