Webi Rich Client 4.1 won't start

I have installed Webi client tools 4.1 SP5 (side by side installation with 3.1) on a Windows 8 Lenovo laptop. They worked OK and then the Rich Client stopped working. It won't start - nothing appears in the task manager. It's added to the list of allowed programs in Norton Internet Security. Windows Firewall is controlled by Norton. I have tried other tools, e.g. Universe Design Tool - works just fine.

Yes, I have tried rebooting.

Any suggestions? I've also got Spybot. It doesn't seem to be blocking anything.

WebIRichClient.exe appears for a split second in the Windows Task Manager and then disappears. I can't even catch it with Process Monitor (procmon.exe).

Anatoli,

     Have you tried to temporarily to disable ALL Virus scan / Firewall software.  I hope BOE XI 3.1 w/ SP7 was installed first and then BI 4.1 w/ SP5 tools.

The problem was solved, surprisingly, by a Windows update. I haven't updated for a while.
