Open WDA applications in BC tab?

Hello,

I'm currently trying out various scenarios with the Business Client 6, and I've come across something I don't understand. I was under the impression that the BC will act as a shell around different UI technologies, including SAP GUI and WebDynpro ABAP (WDA). I should probably mention that so far I have only configured the connections of type SAPGUI in my landscape definition file. When I start the SAP GUI and then start a standard transaction that opens a WDA application (for example, transaction BRFPLUS), the WDA application still opens in a separate browser window instead of a BC tab. Did I miss something here?

Thanks

Hi Volker,

When you use the GUI type connection in BC. Then it works just like a normal GUI, which all its perks and quirks.

So when you open a WDA, this will open in an external browser.

However if you use a NWBC connection instead (You can get the URL by going to transaction NWBC or /ui2/NWBC ) then the WDA will open in a new tab.

Hello Jakob,

thank you for the information. I've added a NWBC connection and logged on via that, and I can see the Index page instead of the SAP GUI when logging on. However, BRFPLUS is still opened in a separate browser window - no change there...

Best regards

Hi Volker,

It might be implicit in the transaction that it needs to open in a window. Like /ui5/theme_designer opens up in chrome or IE.

Try to add the WDA directly to a role in PFCG and see if that solves your problem.
