Re implementation of COPA

Dear Gurus,

      We have implemented the SAP on 2013, when we had created the operating concern and activated but Copa documents was not posted

(We were not using that time )

   Now we are going Re implement the COPA with the current requirements, below are my quires

1.     Earlier i have created the  operating concern 1000 and assigned to controlling area  along with the characteristics and value field,

Now can I use same operating concern or new one ? if I use the same one how to delete and add the new characteristics and value field

In case if create the new operating concern what are steps need to follow for deleting the  old one (1000) because it was activated and documents are not posted

Which is the best way to go ahead  anybody help me on this

Hi,

Both options are available, but it is better to use the existing operating concern as you mentioned there is no transaction data posted.

There are technical limitations on Value fields and characteristics.

It is difficult to delete those once created, because it might be used in COPA Tables in the back end.

Limitations:

  • Characteristics - 50
  • Value fields - 200

If i use the existing one deleting the Value fields and characteristics is very difficult


It is not happening, am i want to delete any configuration also for to do this activity  ?

Hi Venkat

If you did not use the Op. Concern so far, it is a Blessing. Why do you want to delete any Char or VF now?

Just rename them (Change their Description) and start using them. If you still want to delete, refer note 21207

Hi,

First see how many value fields were created...

If those are very few in number you can set a side those value fields. and create those as per your requirement, but keep in mind about the technical limits.

One more thing: We can use the existing fields also, coding you cannot change but those fields can extract the data then  while creating the copa report you can change name of the line item in the report.

Say:

Old Field created with VV0001 named with discount

You are expecting VV0010 named with revenue.

You can use the old one to link up the sales conditions, while creating report name the line item as Revenue.

Deletion is complex - Please find the Note- 21207

Thanks Ajay , i want to delete the unwanted Char and add new char as per the current requirement

Anyhow value field i can change the description

Again, if it is just 4 or 5 Chars, I would say Ignore them and proceed them. You have 50 Chars and no one ever uses all 50 (Usually)

Sales Representative is my new requirement, we are using as a Partner funtion , this is not available in my existing operating concern - How to do

And existing oper concern we created only two value fields as VV900 & VV901 , but in our current requirement i may need to create more than 15  value fields ..

Just Create those New VF and Chars and add in your operating concern

Now i understood

Deleting the Char and VF only difficult

but easily we can add the new Char &  VF and  we can regenerate our Data structure

If i am wrong please correct me
