Characteristics value mandatory entry in QA32

Dear SAP Gurus,

Kindly can I know whether is it possible to make characteristics values entry mandatory while making usage decision for type"04" inspection type.

We are maintaining the CLASS for the HEADER part number against which characteristics values need to be maintained.For me user is not entering the values and proceeding without entering the specification inspection activity done in Production line.

Hi Vignesh,

You can tick the Entry Required check box in characteristics. That way you can make entry of values as mandatory.

Thank you, but will it be such that user will not be able to take usage decision without skipping the entries? will system propose for entries are required?

Hi Vignesh,

No it will not impact the UD.

In my assumption your product is batch managed.

When you are going to perform for GR against the production order, it will ask for the values for the characteristics for the creation of batch.

Dear Amarnath,

Thanks for your reply, my Business process is such that serial number logic is used in which serial number profile is enabled for the header part number and back flushing process is done.

For the header part number "04" inspection type is enabled which will propose for usage decision.

I would like to know when user is clearing the usage decision equipment number for classification screen for entering characteristics need to be shown...is this possible?

Hi Vignesh,

I don't think you can do characteristics values assignment of equipment while doing UD.

Please check exit QEVA0005 , if it can be done by some enhancement.

Hi Vignesh,

I think, if you make batch characteristic as "Requried", then while the batch is created, you will have to post the values against it before you same the GR document. Else, you may not be allowed to save the GR document and so Inspection lot linked to your batch will not be created. May be this is something you can test form your end and confirm if this process is going to work for your process.

If it's not working, then I do not think there could be any direct hard link between RR and UD process, which will block form doing UD. Hence you may need enhancement to stop UD being done for the business case you are suggesting.

Dear Arijith,

Greetings.

We don t operate on batch. Our Business Process is as below.

Material master data will be maintained for serial number profile.

Once while making back flushing [Production entry] serial number will be requested in system.

In this case production person will enter the serial number & save the 131 document.

On completion of this process Quality lot will be created for the header part number and Quality person will clear the lot and save and confirm on which the stock is moved from Quality lot to Unrestricted stock.

In which case while making Usage decision I wish that user need to make the entries against the serial number while making usage decision, user should not be able to tamper the system,

I have made the characteristics as mandatory field but only when the user is entering the data in IE02 it will propose for entries but I need the same to be proposed in Usage decision screen.
