S4 HANA 1511 with normal Logistic

Hello All,

We are on a new project and I've installed S4HANA 1511.

We'll use only Simple Finance not Simple Logistic. Can we use standart (old) Logistic in S4HANA 1511? Or Do I need to use 1508?

If the use case is only Simple Finance capabilities and NOT new Logistics capabilities then stick to S/4HANA 1503 version.

Going to S/4HANA 1511 bring Simple Finance capabilities but at the same time brings in Logistics related simplification and data model changes that CANNOT be de-selected or not used.

Some key changes with 1511 are:

a) Single MATDOC table replaces multiple Inventory Management related tables including MSEG, MBKF, MARD etc.

b) Business Partner is mandatory for creation and management of Customer and Vendors (Customer - Vendor Integration)

c) Material Master becomes 40 character and Material Valuation possible only through Material Ledger.

Hi tutku,

If you want to S/4HANA Simple Finance without Simple Logistics (SLOG), the most indicated is use S/4HANA Finance 1503.

The simple answer is to NOT go 1511 if you want to keep the logistics processes un touched.

S/4HANA Finance (1503) is due an upgrade so you could look at that version.

However it is worth noting 1503 does not use the S4CORE component that you get in 1511.

The level of change within 1511 is much more dramatic than moving to S/4HANA Finance.

I would suggest you work with SAP or your Partner to help you decide the correct version that you move to, and the scope that you utilize

From an MRP perspective, you can still use the old MRP transactions instead of MRP live to plant your materials, however, the simplified planning scnarions introduced on S/4 HANA (see blog MRP: Simplification on S/4 HANA | SCN) cannot be deactivated on S/$ HANA.

Hi,

Apart from Delta S4 Hana configuration there are no changes in standard ECC configuration from logistics perspective. e.g Credit Management moved under FSCM, Output Determination etc...

But one thing you have to remember, as far as traditional ECC logistics is concern its updating multiple tables in the background unlike S4 Hana clubbed into single table.

So whenever you are reading any Z-report instead of using traditional way to pick up the data from multiple tables you can get  the data from single table e.g. MATDOC in S4 HANA.

(Still I believe if you use table e.g MSEG still system will redirect it to MATDOC while reading the table MSEG, as MSEG view still would be available but this may not work in case of MSEG update/insert)

Also when you are updating the data into table use centralized table provided by S4 Hana.

Hi Tutku,

I also have the same question as Simple logistic (a.k.a S/4 HANA logistics) is fully ready to be deployed in many organisations. I think (let some other experts comment) , Simple finance as Add on or Central finance is the best option for those customers (as in your case)  .
