Button "Milestones" greyed out

Hello PS Experts,

Currently in a Sales Order (which we create with reference to a WBS element/Project ) we can copy selected "Scheduled Milestone dates" from WBS element /Project into item level Billing plan. This is using the “Milestones” button in change mode.

But when billing has been done for first Milestone date(first line), then we cannot add further copy "scheduled Milestones" from WBS element into BP since the “Milestones” button is now greyed out/uneditable in change mode.

Due to this once one Billing is done,no further milestones can be added in the Order which is a issue.

Is there some setttings in PS module ,that we need to do to enable this "Milestones" button? .

Thanks you all for your replies..

The root cause of the Issue is found.When all the config settings are STD, and still the screen behaviour is different then there can be a enhance mentn/ code level change which is  causing this issue.

we found that the enhance ment was present, which was not enabling this button.

        What i understand from one previous thread is that "Confirmation is the way to let the system know that the milestone has reached and this will automatically remove the billing block". Also Refer  Milestone Billing - Product Lifecycle Management - SCN Wiki

Milestone will not be greyed out if assigned object (WBS/Activity) actual dates enabled.

For an activity, actual dates enabled by confirmation

Hi Umesh,

How many milestones you had in your project. check all the milestones are checked in with sales doc date.

While copying the first time you add 2 milestones in your SO, and you maintain 5 milestones in your project.

Also Check,

In Item Category maintain billing plan type as milestone billing & check your sales doc type --billing plan.

Ask your SD team recheck Sales settings.

Hello Mahesh,

In the project, all the milestones are checked for the field" sales doc date".

The project also has many milestones, out of which only first few eg.2 are initially copied into Order.

Issue comes when any 1 milestone in Order is billed ,the "milestones" button is greyed out and no more milestones can be added in future.

The Item category is maintained with Billing plan for Milestone billing only.The Billing plan Type is also Milestone Billing ,similar to std "01".

I have checked all SD settings, since I am a SD consultant, but since this issue is related to Copying the Project milestones in Billing plan, I have posted this query in PS module here.

I am trying to find out if there is some setting in PS ,which enables the button "Milestones" at all stages of Project,  even after 1st Milestone is billed through Order.

If you know of such settings , please let me know.

Hi Umesh,

Check for item category used in sales order line item. It needs to be configured accordingly for milestone billing.

SAP standard Item category for this is TAO.

The Item category is configured for Milestone billing process and works well.
