are you using two webi queries?Merge dimension will enable when objects are from two different queries with same datatype.

If both objects are from different webi queries then check data type is same or not.

is there any one or both objects are displayed in Bold in webi objects panel?

similar to this.

If yes then drag objects in one sample tab in the report and refresh the report and try.

No Amit, There is nothing in Bold. The 'OK' option is still grayed out? I wander if I have to make any setting and configuration changes ? Do you think of anything like that? Thanks

Check in BO CMC->Applications->Web Intelligence->User security if Merge dimension access is enabled for your user/group.

There are rules to merging dimensions

- Only dimensions defined in the universe can be merged. You cannot merge using variables.

- Objects must have the same data type. You cannot merge a number with a string, even if the values match.

- Any number of queries can be merged. There is no limit.

- Any number of dimension objects can be merged between two queries. Again, no limit.

- Values are case-sensitive. So, if the values are the same, but of different case, they will not match. They will be shown as different values.

- Watch out for trailing blanks. Even if the values look exactly the same, they won’t match if one has a trailing blank, and the other one doesn’t.

See if your objects falling in this criteria.

Hope this helps.

Have a look to the below KB article and check if this helps you out: -

1204901 - Merge Dimension icon is disabled

Also grant permission at

CMC --> Applications --> Web Intelligence --> user Security --> Add/Remove Rights --> Application (Webi) --> Grant (Merge dimensions for synchronization)
