Hierarchy LOV not working in webi if we have data security profile assinged to the UNX

Dears,

I would like to get a suggestion from you guys.

Environment is as below:

We are using SQL Server as Back end and we have developed universes on that, Universes have list of values and security profiles attached to them, LOV are:

unit

department

section

team

sub team

When i attached this universe to a webi document, and place the above dimensions in quick filter bar, upon selecting unit, it gives whole list of department instead of just the departments which are related to selected unit dimension.

Any words on it are highly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

let me explain the output which i am looking for:

I have unit, department etc dimensions in my universe and i have them as filters in webi document.

I want when user select unit, only those departments show, not all of them.

Is LOV for that? What is navigation path for?

I have both of them implemented and the universe with security profile assigned to it, don't work with navigation paths too.

So Please suggest a solution to this problem.

Hi Hassan,

Navigation path is a custom path how you want to drill in a report and also it filters out the values in subsequent objects lower in the hierarchy when a value is selected from higher the order when applying Quick filters (drill filters) in the report.

Information design tool 4.0: Create a custom navigation path

Cascading LOV is similar to (but not exactly) what your'e looking for, where the prompt screen shows values in a hierarchical manner. It's not exactly what you want because it will show all the values in the hierarchy.

Dear Mahboob,

Thanks for this information, I want navigation path functionality as i do not want prompts.

This navigation path is working in a webi document where i have no security associated with universe, But when there is a security with Universe, Navigation path hierarchy doestnt work in Webi document.

Please suggest something to overcome this.

Hi Hassan,

In that case, can you please check in the security, if you're (or a user) don't have privileges on one of the objects that are in the custom Navigation Path? Meaning, you should've privileges on Unit, Department etc, or else, the custom navigation path is bound to not function properly.

Let us know what happens.

Thanks,

Could you please share the screen shot for the same?

Also please note that Dependent lists of values appear in queries only. They do not appear when you are selecting from a list of values in a report.

Dear Niraj,

I have it working in a universe where no security profile is assigned to it.

So i am wondering is it a bug in SAP webi or something.

I would suggest, if it is a bug log a ticket with SAP and get it confirmed.
