Is there any need of SAP Gateway as part of Solman 2.0?

Hello experts

I would like to check with you if there is any need of SAP Gateway for any new feature coming with Solman 2.0. reason I'm asking is because this new version will leverage FIORI UI design pattern and SAP gateway has been very close to it to enable consumption of REST Services.
