BI 4.1 SP3 TO SP7 backup needed for clustered and distributed environment

Hello,

Beside CMS/Audit db and I/O FRS backups, what are the files and locations needed to backup (web.xml, server.xml, etc) in a clustered and distributed environment, we have 2 CMS servers, 3 processing servers and 3 webservers? Anything with the load balancer or something that we need to backup?

Thanks!

well, it would be nice to have an OS level binary backup of the BOE install directories.
as for web tier/webapp conf etc - that's depends on where you have installed those, what webapp server you have and how you customized your apps.

Thanks Denis.

For the OS level binary backup you suggest to do it on ALL server boxes (web and processing tiers)?

For web tier, we have 3 servers running Tomcat only in there

except web tier - all OS level

if you use tomcat and installed it as part of BOE web tier install, then you need to backup tomcat conf files and BOE webapp conf files + any custom stuff, if you had it.

And what about with the load balancer and F5, something that we should consider on backing up?

That is not part of BI, it is with network team. if you are managing both BI and F5 setup, then whatever require you need to backup.

Thanks everyone for the input, I installed it on our Test server first, and the cluster information keep the same, what I noticed is that we need to backup Apache\conf if you have it installed in split mode like we do, otherwise will be overwritten and need to run re-deploy it again to make it work.

Hope this help.
