SAP Mobile Contributor Challenge: Enter FAQ Here (March 2006)

If you are visiting this thread for the first time, please read <a href="/people/sap.user72/blog/2006/03/01/sap-mobile-contributor-challenge-rewards-for-faq-on-mobile-applications-and-mobile-infrastructure">my blog with a similar title</a> explaining the challenge, the rules, and the points you can earn.

Once you've done that, you can use this sticky thread to submit your FAQ on Mobile Infrastructure and the Mobile Applications topics listed in the blog.

If you have FAQ together with an answer, post it in one reply. If you see a posted question with no answer that you are able to answer, quote the text of the question and post your answer in the same reply. Please remember always to <b>begin your question with a topic header</b> (ex: Mobile Asset Management).

If you have more than 3 FAQ with answers, please send the collective submission to ted.petrenko@sap.com, with the subject "Submission: Mobile Contributor Challenge". Ted will forward them to the appropriate technical expert for review.

Please note: You will not be awarded points directly in this thread. Once the submissions are gathered and evaluated, the results will be tabulated and announced.

Thank you for your participation and have fun!

<b>Mobile Infrastructure: - How to remove device ids that no longer exits?</b>

I am giving more explanation on the question.

When MI Client is installed and synchronization is carried out for the first time then a unique Device ID will be assigned to the device.

But sometimes the MI Client needs to be uninstalled.

Even after uninstalling the MI Client that device id is not removed. It will be there on the MI server. And it appears on the Web Console.

<b>Is there any way to remove that entry permanently from MI Server?</b>

      hello Gunawan,

when you uninstall the MI client, all installation files

will be removed. the device GUIDs registered in the MI

server can be removed using some utility functions already

      mentioned/posted above.

removing the GUID parameter entry from the MobileEngine.config

will not help. and will make your client uninstable...

if you want to reinitialize your MI client, please see this

      procedure: /people/sap.user72/blog/2005/11/17/reinitialize-mi-client-without-reinstallation-in-seconds

      regards

    Hi,

additionally, with NW04 SPS15, there is a functionality called "Device removal". It basically uses the listed function modules from above, but furthermore also uses the new function module called "GET_DEVICES_NOT_SYNCED_SINCE". This one gives you a list of devices which have not synchronized data with the MI server for a given time. So finally you know which devices you can actually delete.

    Cheers, Stefan

    <b>Mobile Infrastructure:

Question:</b> <i>What are the reasons for delay in data retrival of the asynchronous data container from backend to client during generic synchronization?</i>

    <b>Answer:</b>

<b>*</b> The Background Job that runs the report WAF_MW_MAPPING is responsible for processing of asynchronous data container. Reschedule the job interval to 2 miniutes.

This is mainly for MI application development servers.

For real time server the Job intyerval will depenmd on the application.

<b>*</b> Check if both the timezone of the MI WebAS user and R/3 user is same.

Go to SU01->user id->Edit->Defaults tab and enter the correct time zone

Mobile Infrastructure: <b>Difference Between Reprocess and Handler in Worklist Monitor ?</b>

<b>Answer:</b> Reprocess is always used to process Inbound requests which have entered 'E' Status. The execution is always Synchronous irrespective of the settings of the SyncBO.

Handler is always used to process the Ibound requests that have entered into 'W' status. The execution depends on the settings in the SyncBO. If the syncBO is Async then it will process the request in Asynchronous mode and if the SyncBO is synchronous then it will execute in Synchronous mode.

There is another tool called Emulator which is run using the program MEREP_EMULATOR. This is always executed in synchronous mode.
