Changing attributes of a condition type

If a condition type was earlier was not meant for scale and customer wants it to be scale based now. What are points to be taken care before we transport the configuration changes to Production?

PS- Please note that this condition type was used for years and there are many open sales orders and deliveries existing in system containing this condition type

Hi,

Before changing let me know what is the scale basis you are using now ,is it qty scale or value scale

if you really wan to change the present scale basis,create one more condition type as per your requirement with different scale basis assign the same in the pricing procedure.

put a cut over date and close all the pricing records with an end Date of the previous Condition type

and activate the New pricing condition type with present valid date

so the New condition type will start with fresh orders

note- try to close all the open orders

Hi,

As you told many sales order are open for this condition type with existing record, so its suggestible not to make changes in the existing condition type so that it can have a minimum impact on the existing.

If you go with a new condition type with the current scales changes as required so that it will had minimal impact on the existing and will be good practice too.

What if not all sales orders are not closed? The reason i am asking is there is a business scenario wherein at any given point of time not all sales orders can be closed..so i am looking for a work around. Also could you let me know why you are suggesting for a different condition type. Why not same condition type can be used by just changing its attribute.
