Crystal 2008 came out several years before the .xlsx file format, and it was never updated to read it. You might be able to read it by setting up an ODBC connection to the file. However, official support for connections to .xlsx is available in the newer versions of Crystal. You can download a trial copy of Crystal 2013 from here: Software Free Trials | SAP
