Crystal server - Not able to assign permissions to a group or user

I have created a folder myfolder and uploaded reports in it. I have created a group reportviewer and a user rptviewer. This rptviewer user is member of reportviewer group. Now I right clicked on myfolder and clicked on user security and then clicked on Add principals. In the window that got open I have selected the group reportviewer and moved it to the selected users and groups and then I clicked on Add and Assign security. Then I selected view

from Available access levels and moved it to assigned access levels and then clicked on ok.

After this I logged out and logged in from user rptviewer expecting to be able to see the myfolder folder containing the report but I don't see any folder.

Can anyone let me know the reason for the same? Kindly reply.

Regards,

Simran

The group has to have access to the root folder (Public Folders) in order to see any of the folders inside it.  In Folders in the CMC, go to the Manage menu and select Top-Level Security >> All Folders.  For the Everyone group, don't assign an access level.  Instead, go to the Advanced tab and click on Add\Remove rights.  Under General, scroll down and grant "View Objects" then uncheck the right-most check box for that line so that it applies only to the root folder itself.  Click on OK twice and then on Close.

This will grant everyone access to the root folder, but not to anything inside it.  Since you've already given your new user group access to the new folder, that user should now be able to see the folder in BI Launchpad.
