One of our users has Crystal Reports 2011. We just discovered that her hard drive is filling up with at least 150GB of Crystal Reports log files. We would like to find out what is necessary to keep.
Thank you.
Hi Kathryn,
Logging is not enabled by default. I suspect she may have been debugging a problem and forgot to remove these 3 variables from the Environment.
Open System Environment Variables and if you see these values delete them:
LOGGING_DIR = c:\logging
LOGGING_ENABLED_ASSERT = 1
LOGGING_ENABLED_RUNTIME = 30
If they are not Database logs then what are in the log files?
Yes you can delete them.

Yes, use the Advanced Editor, you can just attach a few of the logs. zip them up and then add a .txt extension to the file and then attach. Must be less than 1 meg.
From the name I should be able to see what could be enabled to create the log files. Seeing what is in the logs will help also.
Oh and it could be they have enable crpe32 tracing....
See if they have these registry key:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Business Objects\Suite 12.0\Crystal Reports\Logging]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Business Objects\Suite 12.0\Crystal Reports\Logging\crpe.bkgrnd]
"Destinations"=dword:00000000
"Position"=dword:00000000
"LogErrorsOnly"=dword:00000000
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Business Objects\Suite 12.0\Crystal Reports\Logging\crpe.diagnostics]
"Destinations"=dword:00000000
"Position"=dword:00000000
"LogErrorsOnly"=dword:00000000
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Business Objects\Suite 12.0\Crystal Reports\Logging\crpe.functions]
"Destinations"=dword:00000000
"LogErrorsOnly"=dword:00000000
"Position"=dword:00000000
Suite 12.0 will change, all depends on the version of CR installed.
Setting all of the values to 0 will stop tracing....
I would ask her if she's had issue and someone asked he to enable logging also....
