Desktop Connection: EE and PE coexistence

Hi Guys

We are running CRM 7.0 EHP3 (BBPCRM 713) and we are currently running Desktop Connection Professional Edtion (PE), but we are looking into upgrading to Enterprise Edition (EE) instead.

The question is, can PE and EE coexist? Meaning can we have some users using professional edition of the add-in and others the enterprise edition?

We have tried it in development and test systems, by providing different customization packages (setup through IMG) for different users, and it seems to work. But is it also a supported scenario?

I can't seems to find any info on it. Can anybody help?

Hi Jacob,

Yes this scenario is possible,

For this to work firstly the server release must support both versions.

Once this is ensured please check that you set up the customizing properly i.e. determination of the customization package and the profile.

Customization Package (CP) determination must be set up so that it returns a PE CP for a PE user

and a EE CP for an EE User.
