Custom Tile in Fiori Launchpad on Portal

Former Member

Hi,

currently we are evaluating the capabilities of the Fiori Launchpad Framework Page running on the Enterprise Portal.

We would like to implement a custom time type running on the Launchpad.

Does anyone know how we can achieve this? Our first idea was to make usage of the Fiori Framework Page Extensions as described in the SAP Help.

I think we would need a custom chip definition but as far as I can see the chip definitions are loaded from the fixed path /com.sap.portal.navigation.flp.resources/scripts/ui2/xml/ and I don't see an option to deliver a custom tile with a different chip definition path so that I could use a custom component for this.

Am I missing something or has anyone an idea on this topic?

Thanks and best regards,

Michael

Hi Michael,

to use the extensions you don't need a tile at all, you can write an extension.

You can also create a custom tile and provide URL for the chip, here is the documentation:

Implementing a Custom Tile Type - SAP Fiori Launchpad - SAP Library

Hope this helps, BR,

Hi Saar,

thanks for your reply. Unfortunately this does not suit our requirements. The documentation describes the implementation of a custom tile type on the ABAP Frontend Server.

We use the Enterprise Portal as the frontend and so the custom tile has to be implemented there.

Hi Michael,

I have discussed this with FLP on EP expert and he confirmed that custom tiles are not supported on portal and that this is currently a limitation.

Hi Saar,

that are no good news for us...

Are there any updates planned that this could be available in future updates?

Thanks and kind regards,

Michael

Hi Michael,

This is of course under consideration but it's not something that we can guarantee and commit on a timeline.

Thanks and BR,

Hi Saar,

ok, thanks for your reply.

In this case I'm hoping for the upcoming releases for updates. 😉
