Webservice server

Hello,

We have PB 11.2 and ASA 9

I would like to ask if I could create webservice server with PB or just client. Our customer would like to get data from our database with webservice calls so I have to create webservice server which will respond on customer request.

Thanks for you help!

Tomaz

    Hi Tomaz;

    Starting in PB 11.0, PowerBuilder has a Web Service Target. The WS target actually invokes PB's C#.Net processing mechanism. Thus, any WS you build in the PB IDE using this Target type is really a fully .Net based WS. To do this, the PB IDE uses its PowerScript to C# built-in cross-compiler. The C# WS end product compilation then can only be deployed to Microsoft's IIs Web/Application Server. The great news about this though, is that IIs is now part of the MS-Windows O/S and free - even for production. 😉

    Note:

    PB & .Net Framework version correlation ....

    PB uses .NET

    === ====

    11.x 2.0

    11.5.x 2.0/3.0

    12.x 2.0/3.5

    12.5.x 4.0

    12.6 4.0/4.5

    HTH

    Regards ... Chris
