Select SLD step in SOLMAN_SETUP

Hello All,

we are in progress of Solution Manager Configuration in Transaction Solman_Setup. we have successfully completed first 5 steps under System preparation. In the 6th step Prepare landscape Description we are in the step "Select SLD". Here we wanted to use our PI SLD. so we have given the PI SLD host name and the port along with the user that is needed for connecting. The User is created with the needed roles. Now we wanted to register solution manager in that SLD itself. so we have selected the option "Change DS Target" which in turn opened a new window. There we have given the required details like Abap and Java user(SOLMAN_ADMIN), current client, instance, the SLD server, gateway host and gateway port(of PI) and in the users SLDAPIUSER and SLDDSUSER we have given the users which are created on PI with appropriate roles and for CTC users we have given our passwords and then tried to save and move on to next. Here we are getting an error stating the the pw are wrong or user is locked for the users  SLDAPIUSER and SLDDSUSER. Again we have tried them in a different way by creating them on Solman itself and tried. still it didnt work:(

Note: UME of solman pointing to current client only which we have noticed earlier and changed.

what might be the issue here? usually on where those users needed to be created on PI(as we are using PI SLD) or on Solman.

please do help us as we are stuck at this step and we have a very long way to go......

Regards,

Bala.

Hi All,

Many thanks for your answers on this. I am able to solve the issue. The issue is very funny. By Mistake we are maintaining wrong host of SLD and since the system is trying to connect to that SLD it is throwing errors. The users are also fine. since the system trying to search that users on a wrong host and it cannot find them for a very good reason it has thrown errors.

And I agree with Matt on this.

will come back to you Ashu and Matt as i progress to further configuration.

many thanks Guys

Bala.

Hi Bala,

There are lot of best practices and approaches shared by SAP through below doc

In addition to this there is very good blog with SAP recommendation you can check below

Just check the comments section as well to know where it would be better to keep the central SLD and do you need to have a solman sld or not.

hope this helps

Thanks

Hi Prakhar,

Many Thanks for the docs. yes we have solman SLD but i dont want to use that. using central SLD which will be of PI will be a good call i guess.

Dear Bala,

Can you please explain the problem by pasting the screenshot and we want to know , where are you facing the problem.

First of all we need to use the local sld of solman. We will have to create a sld bridge from PI system to solman sld. It is recommended by SAP.

Dear Ashu,

many thanks for your prompt reply on the same. we are not using any local SLD here. As recommended by SAP if we have any central SLD like PI we can use that due to its high availability. So we are directly using the PI sld to get in sync with LMDB. The problem which we are facing is when trying to change the DS target for Solman by selecting the below option.

A window opens to give the details of users and the SLD gateway details. There as i mentioned above i am getting that users issue. can you check please.....

Bala.

Ashutosh,

It is not a requirement to use the local SLD in SolMan. In fact, if you have another SLD available, as Bala does, I would recommend not using SolMan's SLD, for a variety of reasons. Chances are his PI-based SLD is on a higher NetWeaver version, and so will have greater functionality. So, no bridge setup is required. There are numerous blogs and documents on SCN with this recommendation.

Cheers,

Matt
