SAP SSM Performance Tuning

Dear Collagues,

Hope this post finds you well.

I am opening this post to recopilate some tips, hints, documentation or whatever may be useful to improve SAP SSM performance. I know this can sound as a quite open question, but it would be very much appreciated any suggestion. We are experiencing a poor performance (time to lauch UI, switch between tabs, retriver KPI details etc. etc.) on SSM 10.1 sp4.

Looking forward to your collaboration.

Kind regards,

Dear Jazmin,

Adding to the above what Alicia said, you have many scenario for SSM system performance:-

I always first checked whether I am able to login into the ssm url, if yes go ahead with the below steps & if not I checked whether I am able to ping, telnet the server IP's for both db, SCS, PAS servers. we have an idea about any network issue if the response time is high.

I always check tablespace occupancy levels at OS level and make sure sufficient space is there and if any tablespace is 100% full, action the same.

Check the default trace for any critical errors.

Check application log to determine any memory related issues

Check server node status at oslevel or through management console and action and bring up the java again etc.

These are the general hints to check the performance issue. Coming to your last part you mentioned that the "time to lauch UI" check with Basis or admin guy with the above mentioned general checking (except the last one as system is up and running). Regarding "switch between tabs", "retriver KPI details" seat with functional, admin.

Hi Jazmin,

Please check the log level of the NW Java system as the performance of SSM could be seriously affected if the log level is low and there are too much information to be written to logs.  It might be helpful if you could involve NW Java experts on the performance tuning.

Gracias Alicia.

I'll check on the NW logging level.
