Hi,
My Client is basically an SAP Shop with only SAP Systems. They have decided to go for MDG 8.0 and want to deploy Hub model for MDG.
Their Current version of SAP ECC is Ehp5 SP10. If it was co-deployment then they have to upgrade the ECC to Ehp 6 or Ehp 7 of SAP ERP 6.0.
Whereas in this case of Hub deployment still they have to upgrade their Ehp version?
As far as I remember MDG is deployed on an ECC(Vanilla Version), but the ECC will be non operational in case of Hub mode. If so what should be the version of the underlying ECC on which MDG 8.0 will be installed as Hub.
Regards,
Salih
Hello Salih
1. Whereas in this case of Hub deployment still they have to upgrade their Ehp version? - No they don't have to.
2. No need to change underlying ECC version if you have MDG as hub.

Hi Kiran,
1. So you mean in case of hub deployment, where MDG is on top of a underlying non operational ECC which is basically a vanilla one, the underlying ECC can be of any version?
2. ECC up gradation in required only in case of MDG is co-deployed on top of a operational ECC?
Thanks & Regards,
Salih

Dear Kiran,
Thanks for the clarification.
But in the SAP Master Data Governance Master & Upgrade Master Guide for MDG 8.0(In the above link) on page number 50, section 2.9.1 System landscape for the MDG Hub, in diagram 8 on SAP Business Suite box it mentions that SAP ECC 6.07. So was confused about this version.
Hi Kiran,
I got your point that downstream ECC systems to which data is replicated from MDG hub can be of any version it need not be upgraded.
At the same time the ECC(vanilla) with in MDG hub box, should be of ECC 6 SP 0.7 and on top of this ECC box MDG 8.0 will be installed. Right?
Regards,
Salih
Hello Salih
ECC(vanilla) with in MDG hub box, should be of ECC 6 SP 0.7 and on top of this ECC box MDG 8.0 will be installed. Right? - Yes...you understanding is correct. Few things you need to check. IDOC - message types in EHP7 are different than that of EHP5. But these are minor changes and can be customized.

Hi Salih,
For MDG 8.0, EHP7 FOR SAP ERP 6.0 is enough.
For more information, download Master Guide under Installation and Upgrade Information section.
Hi,
Even in the case of MDG 8.0 to be deployed as HUB, should the SAP ECC server needs to be
upgraded to Ehp7?
Hi Salih,
The add-on SAP MDG 8.0 requires Enhancement Package 7 for SAP ERP 6.0.
So, I suppose for MDG 8.0 you need to install EHP7. Please refer below notes
