Hi,
If we do stock transfer from X material to Y material through Movement Type 551 and 552 (because X was not serialized and Y is serialized) along with that Y material code has Moving Average Prices updated similar to X, then is there anything which we have to do load cost of Material to new Material Code (Y).
I have check that the total stock value is correctly updated on the Material Master.
Requesting your suggestion if i am missing any step or what i am planning to do is a wrong practice.
I have tried a lot to check in the previous posts done by various experts but still not able to get the exact answer.
Please guide.
Thanks and Best Regards

Material X is non-serialized and Material Y is serialized. Now you're attempt to do the material to material transfer from X to Y. I recommend you to use the movement type 309 which is intended for the material to material transfer. Please don't use 551 and 552, as you know that these are used only for scrapping from unrestricted stock and the reversal. I understand your constraint that you cannot use 309 movement due to serial number profile but you can amend the material X master record by adding the serial number profile (MARC-SERNP) as same as the material Y before the transfer. Please check.....

Hi,
Also i would like to have suggestion in case of stock is being transferred between two different Materials with different serial no. profiles.
Suppose Material is to be transferred from X to Y.
X has serial numbers X1 and X2 (ISU Material - Serial Numbers have IS Data updated).
Y has different serial number profile but is also an ISU Material.
Kindly suggest how to transfer Stock with Serial Numbers from X to Y.

Hi Mahavir,
As per my recommendation please use movement type 309 it only requires that the base price of the material should remain same, lets take example
your have material "X" 10 Pcs worth Rs -100
Material "Y" 10 PCS @rs 90.
Now when you will post the material to material transfer from material X to material Y.
The Value will be Material Y - 20 Pcs @ total value is 190.
Meanwhile the price of one pc of X will get increase from 9 to 9.5
please try
thanks & regards,

Hi,
Instead of scrapping, I would suggest to go for movement types 202 and 201 with same cost center.
Go to MB1A or MIGO - Goods Issue and issue the old material against 201 movement type and suitable cost center. Check the material document posted and get the value of the item posted. Now, go again to MB1A or MIGO - Goods Issue and use the movement type 202 for the new material and maintain the quantity as well as value (which is posted in first step) in the "Amount in LC" field and post again against the same cost center. Now, the quantity and value is posted to new material.
If the amount in LC field is not available in the screen, bring it for the movement type 202 in OMBW or in OMJJ.
Test the scenario and revert back.

Shoudn't you use movement 309 instead of 551 and 552?

If you are using 551 & 552 then as long as cost center and material prices are same for both the materials and you are posting them in same period there should not be any issue.
Good way is to check Accounting document for both the movements. One document would clear the inventory and post consumption to the offsetting account and other would just reverse it. Offsetting account must remain same in both the cases.
