Creating my own value set in a column using variable

Dear Experts,

This may sound like a stupid question...but I will ask.

Rather than using query,

I  just need to create my own column with my own values in the report.

I try to create my own set of values within the variable formula.

Can anyone show me how to do this...?

Hi,

I afraid, WebI does not allow to create data out of thin air, it can only calculate on the data you have given or defined.

Creating custom SQL would work.

Thanks,

Jothi

Hi HT,

Few questions:

  1. What's the requirement to create that sample data?
  2. What are the other columns in the report?
  3. How is this sample data going to be used (in calculations) or other logic(s)?
  4. Is that going to be static data?

Thanks,

Thank you for your reply.

I use 2 dimensions Salesman and Sales from Universe.

If Salesman sells, then the data becomes available.

I want to add Salesman Target,

which is not available in the universe.

I was thinking how I can:

-create 2 tables and put them next to each other.

-link these 2 tables in some way.

(For example, using RowIndex Number and If Function. If RowNumber is 1, then AAA.)

Please let me know if this does not clarify my problem...

I can create a table with values. It is not a problem.

I wonder if I then link this my own table to the dimensions from universe.

(If the value of row 1 in column 1 is Salesman A, then [ Sales ])

*I try to do linenumber() and rowindex() but to make linking easier.

If value is 1, then [xxx]...

Hi HT,

You should add another query (data provider) to bring data for Target, that is a typical report that includes Sales & Target or Budget & Actual Expense data. So, you need to upload the Target data in the DataWarehouse, add those objects to the Universe and then create a 2nd query and finally use Merge Dimensions to merge on Salesman Name, then you'll be able to show data for Sales and Target in one table. If you can't get the Target data in the DWH, can you atleast bring it from an Excel sheet?

Try looking for Merge Dimensions.

Also, do you really want to manufacture data for Target in the report itself? It'll be hard-coded data, you'll have to modify it every time you want to update it. Think about it.
