Hello,

as a start, you can speak with your customer and understand what is the meaning and the purpose for him for Area, Territory and Sales person, where and how he uses these terms, etc.

For example, region could be used in pure geographical meaning, or it could mean different teams for sales, or it could mean different credit control rules. You could have different pricing on region, you could have requirement for all kinds of reporting per region and so on.

Establishing communication with the client, so that you can understand what each other means, is very important (I assume that this is a new implementation).

Use the opportunity to learn about the company, the business processes, needs and pain points.

You have said it correctly, as defined by business.

Just because people have encountered these terms in past projects, does not necessarily mean that Area, Territory and Sales person would mean the same for your case and that you need the same setup.

After you perform the discussion/workshop with the client, if you still face problems with the technical setup or you cannot choose between different options, come back with your findings and the forum members can try to give you some advice/hints/ideas.
