Dear Marvelous Mentors,
I have had the great pleasure of staying in "mentor basement" or two in my travels around the world, and have always had a most wonderful time. For those of you unfamiliar with this tradition, the amazing started it, I believe - opening her home to visiting mentors from all over the world. I've shared snack plates and games nights and fun talk with mentors in many cities, and enjoyed it very much. And my own "Mentor Basement" in the Raleigh area of North Carolina is open to those of you visiting here (full disclosure, I am not officially an SAP Mentor but seem to have been somewhat adopted by them, having actively participated in SCN under my previous profile, won the global SCN blogging award for the tenth anniversary, and cohosted "Fail Faire" with Thorsten, Marilyn, and others.)
And now I find myself in a pickle! My new employer, SAS, is an SAP partner, and I'm very pleased to say that I learned this week that I'll be joining a group at Hannover Messe in Germany from the 25th through the 29th of April - I will arrive on the 23rd. I am absolutely unable to find a hotel - with over 200,000 attendees, the city is quite sold out! So I'm sending out a siren call - might there be a "mentor basement" in Hannover? All I need is a clean bed and a shower - I'll be gone all day at the show and will be very little trouble. And, as mentioned, my own mentor basement in Raleigh is available when the time comes. (It is actually more of a "mentor tree house", on the third floor, vs, a basement - photo attached!)
Thank you in advance for any help you might be able to provide. (And yes, I did check AirBnB, FlipKey, etc. Not only did many of the options turn out to be scams, as verified by FlipKey and others, but my corporate travel policies will not allow me to book those for a business trip. I even investigated a camper!)
