nvarchar data type in IQ

Hi All,

We have a strange issue where whenever we create a virtual table on HANA using the physical table in IQ the field length gets increased by a factor of 3.

Suppose we have a field with length 4 then when we create a virtual table it gets changed to 12.

Have you seen this phenomenon?

TThis has to do with IQ specifying the varchar in bytes while HANA uses characters. 3x is normal.

    • BW on HANA and IQ NLS are engineered to work together.  In the 3 years we've had BW on HANA and IQ NLS on the market, I've not seen what you describe so long as the BW NLS First Guidance has been followed.  I would strongly suggest opening an OSS ticket to get to the bottom of the issue.

You could also post this to the BW group(s) on SCN to see what their response is.
