can any one share real time scenario of line item dimension ?

Hi,

line item dimension nothing but a psudo dimension.

basically mapping below like this.

master data attr/text/hier ( SID ) -> dimensional ID (DIM id) -> Fact ID fact table .

after changing as line item dimension there is no dimension of object.

ex -> vendor info object, example inventory cube  (0IC_C03) will make as line item dimension.

it will improve the load performance

you can check the through program -  SAP_DESIGNS_INFOCUBE

will no size of fact table.

Hello,

Line item dimension is a dimension whcih contains only one characteristic.

We do this when we know that having multiple chracateristics in the dimension will make the dimension table very huge.

High cardinality flag is checked when we know that the dimension table will be considerabale in size to the fact table.

Simple and straight --  It avoid Dimension ID and connect with SID.

In Normal dimension :  SID ---> DIM ID ---> Fact table.

In Line item dimension : SID ---> Fact table, Once you make any dimension as LID, system creates Non Unique B-tree indexes, then performance get improved.

Hope you know when you to configure and where to configure of Line item dimension.

Make sure you have/had search in SCN about primary/standard function/s of BW,you can get more detail info too.

right click on dimension getting option lid and high cardigintly after that follow step

Hi Anshul,

Line item: This means the dimension contains precisely one characteristic. This means that the system does not create a dimension table. Instead, the SID table of the characteristic takes on the role of dimension table.

Ex: Purchase Document Number in one dimension is Purchase Cube.

Purchase Cube has Purchase document number and usually the dimension size and the fact table size will be the same. But when you add the overhead of lookups for DIMID/SID's the performance will be very slow.

By flagging is as a Line Item Dimension, the system puts SID in the Fact Table instead of DMID for Purchase document Number.

This avoids one lookup into dimension table.
