What is the usage of line hierarchy in QM inspection plan

Can anyone tell me the usage of line hierarchy in QM inspection plan ,

I want to use line hierarch to define some changes ,so that the material can choose different inspection plan.

Line Hierarchy - Line hierarchy is an entity that groups work centers for planning and analysis.

Map of the structure of a production line. The production line, the line segments and the sub-elements are created in the system as work centers and grouped in the line hierarchy

You can create Line hierarchy using transaction CR21

Basically this field is related to N type routing , you will see this filed while creating routing using CA01
