I am trying to connect to a remote Sybase database using dbisql. The computer I'm using is an AWS AMI Linux EC2 instance. This is what I tried:

sudo ./dbisql -c "UID=<uid>;PWD=<pwd>" -host 192.168.103.250 -port 2638 select * from micros.emp_def

The error:

Error! This program has encountered an internal error.
Details have been logged to /root/.sqlanywhere16/diagnostics/isqlError-5.err.xml
Exception is:
while trying to invoke the method java.lang.String.equalsIgnoreCase(java.lang.String) of a null object returned from com.sybase.util.CommandLineOption.getValue()

I don't know what this means. Please help, thank you!

What Sybase database are you attempting to connect? The java stack suggests ASE. I wanted to confirm as the PORT number in question is commonly used by SQL Anywhere.
