Realtime Reporting in BW4HANA using BW objects

Hi Experts,

How can we access the data in RealTime (i.e. Real Time Reporting) in BW4HANA without using any Enterprise HANA objects(HANA Views) but using only BW objects

As per I know, BW4HANA supports only ADSO, Info Objects, Composite Providers and Open ODS.

ADSO/Info Objects is layer where data is loaded into system generated tables from Source or from another ADSO which can not suffice the Real time reporting

So is there a solution/Option I can use BW4HANA for real time reporting ( production scenario where reporting is done on huge amount of data) using BW objects ?

I think you do followings without having Enterprise HANA License

1. Replicate ECC table and table from old BW system to SLT

2. Create SLT ODP data source and load the data into ADSO in BW4HANA

3. Create the calculation view using generated HANA views or directly active data table of the ADSO

4. Consume the Calculation view to the composite provider

5.Create report on composite provider and publish to BO

Note : You need SLT License for this.

Hi Nagraj,

In my opiniion, as of today, this is the best we can get

ECC >>> SLT (for whatever it does EXCEPT ECC hierarchy/payroll cluster etc) >> DB table/BW object/CDS view >>> [[[CDS view]]]] >>> BW objects/infoprovider/composite provider >> BW Query >> reporting

From reporting side we can go directly to [[[CDS view]]]], but I think going to through BW Query and composite provider is better as BW shell will add flexibility to do more things.

From only BW objects, I don't see its possible.

I am also trying to get same answer for quite some time but no luck so far

Hi Nagaraj,

Composite provider can act as Virtual provider in BW/4HANA. So you need to create Open ODS view and Composite provider on top of it.

In the previous schema, the infoProvider is filled in real time. You can build queries or composite providers on top of it.

If you need more layers, you will be actually stucked.

We can load data in real time using till Stage. But when we have ETL layer with BW objects (ADSO, Info Objects in case B4H), data needs to be loaded to each layer (into tables generated by ADSO/Info Obj). This can not suffice the real time reporting

hello Nagaraj - I dont think you might be able to do real time reporting with just BW objects, You will need to first optimize them to HANA and then think of migration to new objects to leverage the full capacity of real time analytics

I´m afraid all new Developments in 7.40/7.50 are based on the HANA availability together with SAP BW.

Of course. the classical data transfer between SAP Systems and BW/4 is done via ODP based extraction.

In a real time scenario the smart data integration (SDI) framework takes place. Real time replication doesn't has the ability to create Deltas as we know this from the extraction
