Hi Experts,

Any Thought on the maximum number of Characterstics and key figures that can used in a Query. I know it impacts performance query and runs for very long time.

Thanks,

Hi Experts,

We have trouble when we trying to display around 90 Plus characteristics in a report. Few chars are not showing up. That is the reason I want to know the max number char and KF that can be used in a query.

(I am trying find SAP's recommendation) It may look funny but it is a requirement for a report. Thanks all for your response.

Hmm, i think it may be a limitation with the width of a character lengths instead of number of character length..

because long back i think i could not add more than 50 and now siva is upto 90..

Hi,

till now i didn´t come to a maximum of Characterstics and key figures in a Query - but i think there is one.

Once i came to the max. Amount of Variables in a Query -> 50.

I think there is a limit of having chars on BEx.. I think once it did not allowed me to keep more than 50 ( or around 50 )...

Hi Kumar,

Welcome to SDN.

I really did not think about it till now, sharing my thoughts on this -

1. You can use all the characteristics & Key Figure ( & more)in Query what you have in you Cube.

2. Query is suppose to serve a purpose, to deliver you analytics based on some KPI etc & it will have maximum no of char / key figures which human mind could make some sense of.

3. Performance of query actually is divided into three areas -

a. database time

b. OLAP time

c. Front End time

and if you query on not performing well first look at which area is taking maximum time & the optimize that first & there are various ways to optimize each area.

Hope it helps.

Hi,

I don't know a restriction in that area. The only thing I can imagine is the performance as VC already mentioned. Another restriction is the number of rows and columns you can display in the BEX which is about 65000 rows and 255 columns.
