Copying data from OLD BW to NEW BW server

Hi guys,

Just want to ask how can I transfer the data of DSO from our OLD BW (BW 7.0) system to our NEW BW (BW on HANA) server?

I tried openhub and APD but I can't find the logic or way how will the OLD BW system know its target DSO in the NEW BW server..Is it possible using OPENHUB or APD? Or the only way is the GENERATE EXPORT DATASOURCE option?

Thank you..

Loed

Is your OLD BW available as source system in the NEW BW?

If so,  why don't you just create a TRFN (1-1) and load via DTP?

Hi Raf,

Yes that's the option..I'm just wondering if there are still other ways like APD or OPENHUB..

Thank you..

Just curious, how would you connect to another BW system with APD and/or OpenHub? I haven't worked with OpenHub in quite a while, but I thought you would have to download to a flat file first & then upload that flat file. Same for APD, which seems to me a lot more work than just connecting both BW systems.

Hi Loed,

Yes we had another ways too one of them is a flat file download the data into flat file and upload. But out of all(APD,OHD,FF) we had another best way is to use the RFC.

1. Establish  an RFC communication between two BW systems. Like ECC and BW coupling.

2. Select the Target from whcih you want to send the data to another BW system and choose Create genarate DS from Contxt menu.

3.A 3.x DS will get generated under the old BW self source system, Then login to New BW and replicate and continue like normal loading from ECC to BW.

Hope this helps
