2 ECC Systems connected to 1 SCM system

Hello Experts,

I've seen a couple of posts on the subject topic, but none in details. Below is our requirement & we are looking for specific inputs on how to solution the different problems -

  • We currently have 1 ECC connected to 1 APO, with say 2 Plants data being exchanged b/w the 2 systems. There are common products between the 2 plants.
  • We want to separate out 1 Plant & move it to another ECC system B, but retain the same APO system. Essentially, the common products will continue to be produced at the 2 plants (in separate ECC systems). Customers will also be shared.
  • Question -
    • Can it be business as usual in APO while we carve out 1 plant & move the data into a separate ECC system OR will we have to wipe out all our master (& hence transaction data) from APO for both plants (as they share the same product #'s) & re-CIF them from the respective ECC system's? We looked @ the BSG solution from SAP, but in our case it doesn't look like we would need 2 separate BSG's.
    • Also, we assume we'll need separate # ranges for Planned & Process Orders coming from the respective ECC systems.
    • Is there a reference document that details the approach to take in such a scenario?

Any hints would be appreciated.

Cheers

    Hello,

With 2 R/3   systems connected to one SCM is basically not supported by SAP.

A scenario in which location sent from 2 different R/3 system has only one location ID in APO system is not supported by standard.

In standard SAP /sapapo/matmap, /sapapo/loc are assigned unique business system group and logical system.

    • Hi Andy

We have done similar setup with 2 ECCs being connected to 1 SCM. Yes you have to use two different BSGs. This is mandatory. You cannot share the same location across systems (this means customers too as they are nothing but locations in APO). As the customer location will also differ for both the systems, you may have to think about a solution to address this.

There is no ready reckoner as the requirements will differ with every client. But you can go through CIF posts on SAP help which can guide how to setup two systems to be connected to one SCM box.

      Hope this helps.
