TREX Nameserver Problems!

Hi All

I am having a problem with my TREX Namserver on one of my portals.

In the TREX Monitor - Service Status i have a message: <b>The name server is not running or no name server is configured in TREX Service Properties. Start J2EE Admin to change the properties.</b>

When I try and start the TREX Administrator i get this message: <b>No connection to NameServer <PORTALTST:30201></b>

I have set the Nameserver in the J2EE (go.bat)

Can anyone help! (BTW it is a new installation EP6 SP15)

hi,

The problem may be because

1. You might have wrongly specified the name server address or the system name of the trex server itself in the trex services. also check if you have saved it and stop and start the trex service in the visual admin.

2. Your trex instance might be stopped. Go to services in control panel and try starting it.

Have you entered the nameserver address value on tcp/ip for the trex server on the portal?

Yeah, as I mentioned I have done all of that but no joy!

Hi Phil,

It might be because you didnt restart the Trex service. If you havent dont so, please go to J2EE admin and look for TREX Service. You have to stop and start it again to make it visible in Portal.

Sivasubramaniyan, thanks for that I had not done that but unfortunately this did not work!

Ganesh, the namservert I have specified is tcpip://myservername:30201 which I think is correct.

I might try uninstalling it and reinstalling it?

Are all the IIS services for TREX are up and running?

I have an update: I have noticed that when the Trex Service starts the TREXNameserver.exe runs for a few sections and then stops and I have no idea why?

All the other services run fine. If anyone could let me know how to fix this?

BTW: I am on EP6 SP15
