If the o/p varies dynamically then lines can be drawn by creating TABLES in the window defined.
In the tables u have options to draw lines, and display patterns.

create the folder in the folder if you see the <b>output options</b> there you can see the frame with <b>box and shading</b> in that check the checkbox <b>lines with</b>, under that create the text which ever you want to put them under box.

Hi,
You can define template with the required fields, where you can get both vertical and horizontal lines. If the data varies dynamically you can define tables.

Use the checkbox for bordering in settings for that smartform element with height as 0.
See the output options tab in the window, and set the height to 0 and check the check for for Draw Box and Shading.
